My Florist Life: The Good, the Bad & the Blooms

Wow. Six months. Honestly, it feels like a blur.

Running a shop has been a steep learning curve! It’s a whole different game from freelancing. The admin, the orders, the logistics… it’s a lot, especially for my ADHD brain.

The bad? The amount of admin and paperwork! and the occasionally unnecessarily rude customers (if you’ve worked in retail, you know). Flowers are a luxury, and prices have gone up, so my arrangements aren’t going to compete with Tesco. And I don’t want them to. I’m here to create something special, designed with care, time, and love, with stunning, longer-lasting flowers. What I do isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay.

The good? The clients that get it, get it. Those of you who come in because you love the colourful gifts and decor, the different selection of dried and fresh flowers, and appreciate the work and love that goes into each bouquet, this space is for you. You make it all worthwhile, and I love you all.

I absolutely adore creating this space. Painting it, filling it with gorgeous blooms and little gifts, adding a music corner with my record player, it’s my happy place. Next on the wishlist is a piano. So if anyone has one lying around… heyyy, haha.

Looking ahead, there will be more workshops! After Christmas, I’ll probably take a much-needed break, then Valentine’s is next, think Galentine’s and Valentine’s workshops. I’m also manifesting and working on Flaura School, with short courses for anyone wanting to dive into floristry properly. Keep an eye out for updates, I can’t wait, it’s going to be so fun.

I’d also love to collaborate with brands and hopefully travel with my flowers too so if you’re planning a wedding abroad and love my style, please reach out!

To the lovely customers who spend their hard earned money in my little shop, and those who can’t but share and comment and like on every post, and those who pop in just to wish me good luck over the last 6 month - I couldn’t do this without you. Here’s to the next 6 months: more blooms, more workshops, and a whole lot of joy.

With love & flowers,
Laura
